Mike Skillern Named Volunteer Director for Laurel Podulke-Smith’s Campaign for County Commissioner

ROCHESTER, MINN. – MARCH, 2022 – Laurel Podulke-Smith today announced Mike Skillern has accepted the role of Volunteer Director in her campaign for District One Olmsted County Commissioner. Skillern currently works as a group fitness instructor at Mayo Clinic. Previously, he was the former Production Manager for the Rochester Civic Theatre and a public school teacher in Aurora, Colorado.

As Podulke-Smith’s Volunteer Director, Skillern is responsible for sourcing and recruiting volunteers from the community and managing their training to effectively educate the voters of Olmsted's First District about why they should elect Laurel to be their county commissioner.

“I have always known Laurel to be a person of integrity who sees the great importance of service to community,” said Skillern. “I am honored to spearhead the volunteer group for the candidate that will put the essential needs of Olmsted residents at the core of her duties, especially those traditionally underrepresented in local government and the most vulnerable members of our community.”

This is Podulke-Smith’s first run for office and her team is gearing up for the general election on November 8th.

“Mike will inspire our volunteers to meaningfully engage with every voter to discover their specific needs from their county government,” said Podulke-Smith. “His experience in other political campaigns dating back to 2008 will serve our campaign well as we push towards victory on November 8th.”
