Melissa Brandt accepts role in Rochester resident’s campaign for Olmsted County Commissioner


ROCHESTER, MINN. – JANUARY, 2022 – Laurel Podulke-Smith, a Rochester resident, educator, small business owner and community organizer today announced Melissa Brandt has accepted the role of Campaign manager in her campaign for District One Olmsted County Commissioner.

Brandt currently works as the Transitions and Fostering Connections Coordinator for Rochester Public Schools, a role that helps her to advocate for students and families in need. Brandt also sits on the Human Services Advisory Board for Olmsted County, participates in local Alliance Housing meetings, is a former Family Promise board member, and volunteers for many agencies throughout Rochester’s non-profit sector.


As Podulke-Smith’s Campaign Manager Brandt is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day coordination of the campaign.


“I am so happy to be part of Laurel’s run for Olmsted County Commissioner,” said Brandt. “It’s a joy to rally support for someone who is passionate about affordable housing, environmental sustainability, and human services, and is committed to prioritizing the well-being of her community.”


This is Podulke-Smith’s first run for office and her team is gearing up for the general election on November 8th.


“Melissa is an amazing addition to our team,” said Podulke-Smith. “Her experience in supporting students and families and her vast knowledge in community programming will serve to drive our momentum through November 8th.”
